In the early spring of this year, on the eve of the blessed holiday of Ramadan Hayit, the Center of Islamic Civilization opened its doors in Tashkent. This is a grandiose complex of scientific and educational orientation that tells the story of Islam in Central Asia. In a short time, it has become popular with tourists and pilgrims from all over the world.

How did it all start?

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, proposed to create such a complex almost 9 years ago, presenting an ambitious project at the UN. The idea was to create a space in which history, science and progressivism would merge.

The Center of Islam in Tashkent is the new heart of Uzbekistan’s spiritual heritage

What awaits visitors?

The complex includes:

• A museum with unique exhibits, including the main shrine: Usman’s Mushaf, one of the oldest lists of the Koran. There is also an exhibition about the pre-Islamic period and much more.
• A world-class library with manuscripts and lithographs, printed publications and electronic materials in unprecedented variety.

• Scientific and educational platforms - international events are already being held here with the participation of IRCICA, ICESCO and the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies.
Thanks to international cooperation, about two thousand unique historical artifacts have already returned to Uzbekistan. Many of them are presented to the public for the first time here.

Why is this important?

The center creates a new image of Tashkent as a progressive cultural hub, where rich heritage is combined with innovation. This is a place where you can not only see ancient manuscripts, but also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of scientific discoveries and spiritual enlightenment.

Travelers, Uzbekistan invites you to open your soul!

Friends, if you love a history that breathes and a culture that you can touch, you are definitely here. Tashkent is no longer just a convenient starting point to Samarkand and Bukhara. Now it is an independent magnetic center of attraction.

Why should you come right now?
