The renovated complex of Imam al-Bukhari, one of the greatest scholars in the history of Islam, has opened its doors in Uzbekistan after a large—scale reconstruction. It was he who created the famous collection of hadith, Sahih al-Bukhari, which Muslims around the world revere after the Koran as the second most important book.

At the initiative of the President of the country, the complex was not only completely renovated, but also significantly expanded. Today, its territory covers more than 63 hectares.

The complex includes:

• A luxurious mosque capable of accommodating 10,000 people;
• elegant ivan in a unique Uzbek style, decorated with 154 columns;
• a museum with advanced technologies and nine pavilions, which tells about the life and legacy of the “Sultan of Muhaddith”, as well as about the 25 prophets, the genealogy of the Prophet Muhammad and the history of the collection of hadith.

 The heart of Islamic heritage: The renovated Imam al-Bukhari Complex has become a world-class pilgrimage center

For the comfort of travelers, an advanced travel cluster with hotels, family guest houses, service facilities, ample parking and all necessary infrastructure has been created on the adjacent 15 hectares of land.

The result exceeded expectations: previously, the complex could accommodate up to 12,000 visitors per day, but now it can accommodate 5 times more visitors.  This makes Samarkand one of the main centers of ziyarat tourism in the entire Muslim world.
