The Head of State, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting dedicated to the state of affairs and prospects for the development of cultural centers in the country.
It was noted that a significant number of existing institutions require renovation and reconstruction, as most of them continue to operate according to outdated standards, focusing primarily on hosting celebrations.
To address this issue, a special concept has been developed for the modernization of four major cultural centers in the cities of Tashkent, Kokand, Bukhara, and Samarkand.
The first stage of the project involves the creation of a modern complex based on the Gulshan Cultural Center in Tashkent. This new space will combine creative, educational, leisure, and communication areas, offering visitors a wide range of opportunities for self-expression and personal growth.
Special attention has been given to the training of professional personnel in the field of traditional art. It is planned to establish a Higher Educational Institution for Traditional Arts, based on the experience of a similar institution in the United Kingdom.
Here, students will acquire knowledge and practical skills in areas such as decorative painting, wood carving, ceramic art, architecture, and calligraphy. The program is designed for two years, and by 2027, it is planned to graduate the first group of fifty specialists. In five years, the annual graduation will reach approximately eighty highly qualified professionals.
Other initiatives discussed at the meeting include the establishment of a National Institute for Restoration, the restoration of cultural sites and monuments, such as the Bibi-Khanum Mosque in Samarkand and the summer stage of the Turkiston Palace of Arts. All efforts to preserve the country's cultural heritage will be carried out in strict accordance with UNESCO's recommendations.
These steps aim to strengthen Uzbekistan's cultural heritage, create new opportunities for creative youth, and make the country an attractive destination for international tourism.
